Rodion Shchedrin
Born in 1932 (in Moscow).
Rodion Shchedrin is a Soviet and Russian composer and pianist. He studied composition and
piano at the Moscow Conservatoire and quickly became internationally recognised in both disciplines. Among his compositions are operas, ballets, symphonic works, piano concertos and chamber music works which are regularly performed in the leading theatres and concert halls of the world. Rodion Shchedrin is married to Maya Plisetskaya who was the prima ballerina assoluta of the Bolshoy theatre in Moscow.
