Piano Music - Alexander Reinagle

Alexander Reinagle

1756 - 1809
Alexander Reinagle was an English composer, pianist, teacher and friend of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He emigrated to America, first living in New York and subsequently relocating to Philadelphia. He published a variety of educational works. Most of Reinagle's compositions perished in a fire at the Philadelphia Theatre. Reinagle was the first American composer to have composed keyboard works specifically for the piano, among them the keyboard sonatas in the style of C.P.E. Bach's Empfindsamer Stil.
